Intense drama about a war vet (Tobey Maguire, who is absolutely terrifying) who comes home after a horrific experience in Afghanistan and tries to readjust to life with his wife (Natalie Portman), whom he suspects has been sleeping with his brother (Jake Gyllenhaal). Wow. I thought the acting was great – even the little girl Isabelle (Bailee Madison of Bridge to Terabitia) could emote some serious tension – and you experience the full range of emotions, from laughter to sadness to fear. You also can’t help but think of the psychological damage the real vets are suffering. Outstanding movie, I am giving it my highest rating (which I am very stingy with).

- I love movies. I love the big screen in a darkened theater with a great sound system. I love the popcorn with the fake butter too! I go to the theater 2 or 3 times a week, depending on what movies are out. Luckily, my husband allows me to be a spoiled housewife who doesn't have to work anymore, so I can enjoy quiet matinees. Even with the not so great movies, I can usually find something I like about them. If you are the "hard to please" type, this page is probably not for you.
