So-so fictional take on Edgar Allen Poe assisting detectives investigating a copy-cat killer who recreates the morbid murders from Poe’s poems (kind of like TV’s Castle, but without the comedy). John Cusack stars as Poe, but Cusack should really stick to silly comedies like Hot Tub Time Machine because he’s really not that good of an actor. Luke Evans plays the detective, Alice Eve plays the object of Poe’s desire and Brendan Gleeson plays her disapproving father. It’s not a bad movie, but it could have been better – like if Johnny Depp starred, he would have made it awesome. Wait for cable.

I go to the theater 2 or 3 times a week, depending on what movies are out. Luckily, my husband allows me to be a spoiled housewife who doesn't have to work anymore, so I can enjoy quiet matinees. Even with the not so great movies, I can usually find something I like about them. If you are the "hard to please" type, this page is probably not for you.
