Towelhead

I was expecting a film that addresses misconceptions and prejudices. While these issues are addressed, it is more of a coming of age story of a 13 year old girl (Summer Bishil) sent to live with her extremely strict Lebanese father (Peter Macdissi) set during the onset of the US invasion of Iraq. Aaron Eckhart costars as her creepy neighbor with pedophilia tendencies; Toni Collette stars as another neighbor trying to help look out for her best interests. Although Bishil is 20 years old in real life, it is still very disturbing to see her character in so many sexual situations. Good movie for those who don’t mind squirming through child sex scenes and promiscuity. I left the theater feeling “icky”.
